Carol came to us wanting a updated brand and a website refresh. She owns an established photography business in North Carolina and realized her business had grown so much. She knew it was time for her branding to reflect that growth so she reached out to Jade.

When we chatted on her strategy call, she expressed that she wanted to keep the laidback, beachy spirit of her existing branding. Previously, she had been suing a few blue shades and neutrals for her brand. Carol also said she would welcome a pop of pink!

During this call we got to learn about Carol’s business, learn about brands she loves, and discuss aesthetics that she likes. Fun fact- Carol loves art! Her home was decorated in coastal blues but there were occasional pops of colorful art on the wall. She loves the way her home feels and it honestly felt like HER. Carol has the sweetest, calmest personality paired with warmth and a fabulous sense of humor. She truly seems like a great photographer to work with and her work is stunning!

We often say branding can’t just be colors that you like, there really needs to be more underlining strategy to the hue selection.  However, photography is a slightly different niche where the photographers personality touches every aspect of their work.  The way they book their sessions, the way they interact with clients at the shoot, and the way they edit photos can truly reflect a photographer’s personality.  For Carol’s project, it made sense to incorporate her personality and keep her favorite colors in the updated brand.

The first step to a branding project is to brainstorm via Pinterest. We made a Pinterest board for her business. Marinated on it a little longer to make sure it felt aligned, and then transformed the best elements into a mood board with her updated color palette.

Next we moved onto her new logo! In our strategy call Carol said that she preferred softer, scripted fonts as opposed to sharper or block fonts. We followed this request and stayed within the script family. After presenting Carol with a few options, this is the final logo and submark she chose. Isn’t it lovely?

It makes our team feel calm and welcomed while giving the confidence of an established business- exactly what Carol was looking for!  The next thing we did for Carol was integrate the updated branding into her website. We adjusted the colors and made visual and content updates for her services, pricing, and portfolio sections. When we did this, Carol realized that she liked the colors on the brand board, but didn’t love them on the website. We made a few minor hue adjustments to her colors and Carol loved the final brand board and website! Below you’ll find her final band board and a few screenshots of this bright and airy website utilizing her updated colors. To see the website in action, you can visit it here.

“I was extremely thankful for Jade’s professionalism, patience and understanding throughout the design process. It took seeing the design with my images to dial in which colors would really compliment my work. It was also so truly wonderful to have Jade make my website more user friendly. I knew I was in good hands.” – Carol
