Hi Friends!

I am so excited you’re here. 🙂 I thought the first blog post would be the perfect place to share a little more about me and my journey. I’m a branding and web designer from Huntsville, Alabama. I live with my high school sweetheart husband, Brandon and our two pups, Finn and Trooper. Brandon and I complement each other nicely because I am the creative, free spirited creative, he is the very logical, technical engineer. We balance each other out really well, and to be honest he’s probably one of the few engineers who knows basic graphic design and typography principles because he’s absorbed them from listening to me all these years. We have been together for ten years, and just got married this past June. He’s my best friend. I also have a really close relationship with my mom and my Mei-Mei. I couldn’t do life without them. And they are my biggest supporters. I’m so grateful for them.

I love fashion, Southern Living, long summer days spent near any body of water (whether that’s the beach, the pool, or the lake)  the Magnolia Journal (it’s so gorgeous!), curling up with a great book (I don’t do this enough), listening to podcasts, and enjoying a great meal!

I guess you could say that my graphic design journey began in high school as the design editor of the yearbook. But back then, I really didn’t know much about graphic design and didn’t even know anyone who was a graphic designer. I loved design and knew I wanted to pursue a creative field, so I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia where I initially thought I was going to get my BFA in Fashion Marketing. I quickly realized I wanted to major in something a bit more broad with a wider range of career options, so I pivoted to Advertising, and it was the best decision I could have possibly made. It was everything I loved–coming up with creative ideas, writing, designing, photography. It immediately felt like home.

After college, I worked as a copywriter at an ad agency where I learned so much about the business of advertising, working with clients, production processes, and all the nitty gritty that goes into putting together advertising campaigns for brands small and large. It was such an amazing environment to grow in. I realized that while I loved copywriting, I missed being more hands on in the entire process and I wanted to do more design work. I was still designing wedding invitations and stationery in my spare time. Eventually I moved back to my hometown, and took on a position as a web designer for an in-house marketing department.

While I was happy to begin design work again, I felt like I needed a passion project to express my creativity, so I started a blog. And that is where my journey into this whole entrepreneurial journey began.

One day I introduced myself on a #FridayIntroductions post on my blog’s Instagram account and shared that I am a full-time graphic designer. That day I got a DM on Instagram that someone needed a graphic designer that they were starting their business and needed a website and a brand.

And that’s the start of J. Alexandria Creative. This business of mine has grown from serving just one single client. I love helping small business owners level up in their businesses and helping them create online presences that connect with their ideal client and convert them into customers.
