When our team gathered for this year’s Camp JAC Retreat, we knew it was the perfect chance to refresh our agency team photos. Instead of snapping a few quick pictures, we approached the shoot the same way we approach all creative direction—intentional, strategic, and on brand.
1. Starting With a Vision and a Mood Board
Before anything else, we established the vibe. We wanted our photos to feel friendly and fun while still communicating the polished, luxury experience our agency is known for. To guide the shoot, we built a mood board that blended elevated textures, our signature color (pink), and a hint of that “Millennial office chic” energy Pinterest does so well.

2. Aligning the Shoot With Our Brand Values
A few of our core values—friendly, fun, and professional—became the filter for every decision. We selected a velvet curtain backdrop to create a luxurious, inviting foundation. Since we recently updated our brand colors, choosing a pistachio-green velvet curtain felt like the perfect way to weave our fresh palette into our new agency team photos.
To balance the formality of the velvet, we encouraged everyone to wear what we lovingly called “business casual Barbie” attire—aka PINK and denim. We’re a team of girls’ girls, so we let everyone choose the shade of pink that aligned with their seasonal color palette. Hot pink isn’t for everyone, and we wanted everyone to feel both comfortable and confident on camera.
3. Creating a Cohesive but Flexible Wardrobe Plan
Our wardrobe plan was all about cohesion without rigid rules. The mix of soft pinks, bold pinks, and Barbie-inspired business casual created a playful contrast against the luxe pistachio backdrop. This color story not only photographed beautifully but became a natural extension of our brand identity—proof that agency team photos can feel elevated and full of personality when the styling aligns with your values.

4. Making Space for Team Energy and Authenticity
Once the setup was complete, the energy took over. We captured individual headshots that feel refreshingly true to each person and we embraced energy and motion for some playful poses. We took a few group photos of the six of us who were able to attend the team retreat. One of our favorite group photos includes the pink badge hats we made together on Day 1 of the retreat.
We also abandoned the velvet curtain backdrop, threw on our Camp JAC sweatshirts, and took some sitting on a dock during sunset. It turned out SO pretty. (A huge thank you to the good Samaritan who snapped the button for us on this so Jana didn’t have to do sprint workout to join the group photo 🙌)
5. The Final Result: Photos That Feel Like “Us”
Our newest agency team photos represent more than just updated headshots. They show the intentionality behind our brand, the personality of our team, and the blend of luxury and fun that defines the J. Alexandria Creative experience.
